Meet the Team

Dr Fortnam graduated from the Hull York Medical School in 2012 and has worked in the local healthcare system ever since, beginning his role at Haxby Group in Hull as a GP in 2018 and becoming Director of Education and Training within the business in 2021. Dr Fortnam also has five years' experience as an accredited GP Trainer.

Mike has been a Partner for 23 years and fulfils a leadership role within Haxby but also in external organisations including community pharmacy, local acute trusts, NHSE and the Royal College of General Practitioners – he was worked locally, regionally, nationally and internationally. He continues to provide clinical input to the practice including a regional vasectomy service run by the practice.

Quickly specialising in Neurology, James worked in the South of England before moving to Hull in 2015, working in Neurosurgery before managing the Stroke community services in East Riding. After starting his Advanced Clinical Practice Masters at the University of York in 2018, James joined the Haxby Group, becoming an important part of the rapidly emerging Advanced Clinical Practitioner team in the city. After qualifying as an Advanced Clinical Practitioner, James became the first Physiotherapy ACP Partner in England, joining the Haxby Group Partnership as a Partner in April 2021.

A GP since 2004, Kevin has over 20 years of experience in healthcare education and workforce development. With a Masters in Health Professionals Education, he has played a leading role in developing innovative training programs such as the Longitudinal Integrated Clerkship at Hull and York Medical School. He played a key role in the development of training hubs in Yorkshire and the Humber, and was formerly an Associate Dean at NHSE, helping to develop the Primary Care School’s Faculty of Wider Workforce. He now works with international partners to develop Global Foundation Programmes in primary care.

Dr. James Hunter has been a GP for 12 years after spending 3 years as a surgical trainee prior to switching to primary care. He has extensive experience in training and supervision of medical students, junior doctors and advanced primary care practitioners both in hospital and primary care.

Lisa has over 15 years’ experience working in primary care and has been greatly involved in training and workforce initiatives throughout this time. She graduated from the University of Hull in 2008 with an MSc in Work and Organisational Psychology and joined the practice as part of an initial team in the opening of three new GP surgeries in Hull in 2009, also becoming involved in regional training projects from the outset.

With over 20 years in the health and care sectors, Rebecca has worked as an educator, front-line manager, and national project manager before becoming the Commercial Lead at Academicare.

Deb's career in healthcare spans over 42 years covering general nursing, midwifery and Primary Care nursing. She holds multiple teaching qualifications and awards including ENB 997/8 teaching and assessing, C&G D32/33, and Train the Trainer Qualification.

Sue has worked in healthcare for 6 years and spent over 40 years in the retail sector focusing on audit, profit protection and internal procedures.

Coming from a predominantly sport-based background, Katie joined the Training Hub in December 2023 as Project Administrator. She graduated from Sheffield Hallam University in 2023 with a BSc Hons in Sport Development with Coaching.

Dominic has over 10 years' experience developing digital content such as websites, mobile applications, and eLearning programmes. He studied Web Development at Staffordshire University and worked for various academic institutions.

Safalta possesses a distinguished academic background with a bachelor's in commerce and an MBA from esteemed institutions in India, and has obtained the PTTLS certification from Hull College.

Jozine has 18 years' experience in healthcare, working in community nursing, primary care, and secondary care, and holds a BSc (Hons) in Nursing.

Tracy has over 15 years' experience as a registered adult nurse and has been a nurse educator/tutor in both healthcare and academic settings, holding a PGCert in practice.

Victoria graduated from Humberside University in 1995 and has built a career in training and development, gaining qualifications including D32, D33, D34, PTLLS, and CTLLS.

Over the last 19 years, Nisha transitioned from a Physician Associate Tutor to a GP Clinical Trainer and Educational Supervisor for GP Trainees in York, and is the Training Programme Director for the York GP Training Scheme.

Qualified in Medicine for Edinburgh University in 2005, winning the University prize for Gynaecology. After completing General Practice training in York in 2014 have worked as a GP and developed interest in women's health, completing Postgraduate Diploma in Gynaecology from Bradford university in 2023 to become a GP with Special Interest in Women's Health.
